Caribe Live Fruit Salad

1 Large Red Pepper
2 Small Avocados
2 Limes
2 Tsp Agave Nectar
1/2 Tsp Jerk Seasoning

Preparation:
Chop all the veggies and the fruits.
Squeeze the juice of 1 fresh lime over.
Combine the juice of 1 lime, agave nectar, jerk seasoning, pinch of sea salt
Combine all ingredients.

Serve at room temperature!

Bon appetit' :)

  1. I never had raw plantains, I suppose that the lime juice sort of 'cook' them :-)

  2. Alessandra,
    Thanks for your comment.

When the plantain is ripe it has a very similar taste to that of a banana. The recipe calls for Agave nectar to add a bit of sweetness to the salad. The lime juice prevents the avocado and the plantain from turning dark in color and also help absorb the Vitamin C from the Red Bell Pepper, in addition to adding a tangy taste to the fruit salad.

    Peace :)

  3. Chandra, what does jerk seasoning taste like? Tangy? spicy? Never had it..always figured its something you use on meats...

  4. Raw_Girl,
    Thanks for your comment.
IMHO Jerk Seasoning tastes more tangy than spicy in this recipe. However, I have seen it add a bit of heat to Pan Fried Plantains.
    Peace :)
